4-H members from Iberia Parish recently got a chance to participate in the first ever Iberia Parish horse clinic and trail ride held at Bayou Boarding facilities in New Iberia. The participants were able to brush up on their riding skills Saturday, May 23, by practicing for the upcoming parish, district and state horse shows. The youth were giving tips by Iberia Master Horsemen Alumna, Erika Bass, on how to better show their horses for the showmanship classes and how to properly work their horses for the halter classes. They were also given the opportun[Image: Iberia Parish Horse Clinic]ity to practice for the speed events by running the poles and the barrels. All who were in attendance did an excellent job and were rewarded with a trail ride and some barbecue to end the day. 4-H members in attendance were: Anne Patout, Chelsey Landry, Mallory O’Brien, Grace O’Brien, Avery Bernard, Cole Denise, Andrew Romer[Image: Trail Ride]o, Tate Denise, and Tori Denise. 4-H volunteers who helped with the clinic were: Lisa Patout, Darren Denise, Debbie Bernard, Ellen Denise, and Iberia 4-H agent Josh Fredieu.
