Iberville Extension Welcomes New 4-H Agent [Image: Picutre]
The LSU AgCenter welcomed a new employee at the local Iberville Parish Extension office on November 1, 2008. Ms. Ashly Pitre, a native of Thibodaux, LA, will be serving local Iberville Parish youth in the capacity of Extension Agent through the 4-H Youth Development Program. Growing up, Ashly and her family farmed sugarcane and raised hogs and Hereford cattle.

2008 Sugarcane Ripener Recommendations [Image: Sugarcane]
There will be four products labeled for use during the 2008 sugarcane crop for use as chemical ripeners. When used in accordance with the product labels and according to the following recommendations and/or suggestions, these products should increase both the yield of recoverable sugar per ton of cane and sugar per acre in the treated crop.
