Jeff Davis 4-H Dairy Exhibitors to Participate in Dairy Awards Trip

Jeff Davis 4-H Dairy Club members were selected to attend the State Dairy Educational Awards Trip. Dairy Club members took part in a selection process in Baton Rouge on Louisiana State University campus on October 14, 2009. After the selection process, the youth left directly for Jackson, Miss., to exhibit their dairy projects at the Mid-South Dairy Exposition October 14-20, 2009.

Youth selected for the educational trip included: Braden Williams from Lake Arthur Junior High and Alex Mallet and Adam Mallet from Bethel Christian School. Youth exhibited their cattle in the open Dairy Show at the Mississippi State Fair and participated in educational activities related to the dairy project. All three Jeff Davis Parish youth competed in Best Fitted (best groomed cow) and Cow Capers (best dressed cow) contests. Alex Mallet won the Best Fitted Contest and received a plaque. Adam Mallet placed second in the Open Dairy Show. Braden Williams placed 15th in the Open Dairy Show and sixth in Cow Capers.
