Parish 4-H Members Attend Leadership Conference [Image: Jefferson Parish 4-H members at JLC] Four Jefferson Parish 4-H members joined participants from throughout Louisiana for the annual 4-H Junior Leadership Conference. The three-day leadership event was held at the Grant Walker Educational Center in Pollock, La. Jefferson 4-H’ers had “Fun with Food” at Kids Expo [Image: people standing together possing for picture.] Teen leaders had “Fun with Food” at Congressman Steve Scalise’s Kids Expo held Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Muss Bertolino Gym in Kenner, Louisiana. The exhibit gave kids an opportunity to make a healthy snack with graham crackers, peanut butter, strawberry and grape jelly, shredded cheese, raisins, marshmallows, and cheerios. 2009 Jefferson Parish 4-H Commodity Cookery/ Ambassador Contests [Image: children standing in a row taking picture.] 39 Jefferson Parish 4-H members competed in the Annual Commodity Cookery and Ambassador Illustrated Talk Contests held February 28, 2009 at Lakeside Shopping Center in Metairie, Louisiana. Word of Life 4-H’ers Celebrate Teacher Appreciation [Image: Student holding tray with bags on it.] The 4-H Club and students at Word of Life Academy helped celebrate Teacher Appreciation Day. Students were encouraged to bring cards to express their thanks to the faculty. Jefferson Parish Officers and Leaders Attend Regional Training [Image: People sitting down taking picture.] Forty-two 4-H Club officers and leaders from Jefferson Parish joined participants from Orleans, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John and Plaquemines parishes for the 2008 4-H Officer/Leader Training held on Saturday, October 25, at Belle Chase Primary School. Jefferson Parish 4-H Members Enjoy Camp [Image: People sit and stand to take picture in group.] Thirty Jefferson Parish 4-H members joined members from Orleans, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Charles, St. John, East Carroll, and Pointe Coupee parishes for an exciting week of good times and good friends. The week long camp was held at the Grant Walker Educational Center in Pollock, LA. Campers enjoyed educational tracks along with many recreational activities. Jefferson 4-H Members attend 2007 Marsh Maneuvers [Image: Picture of people holding alligator.] Three Jefferson Parish 4-H members joined other 4-H members from across the state for a week long teen camp called Marsh Maneuvers. Participants had the unforgettable experience of walking in marsh mud, taking airboat rides, coming face to face with alligators, swatting mosquitoes and watching the sunrise over the marsh. Jefferson Teens Attend 4-H University [Image: Kids standing in row taking picture.] Eighteen Jefferson Parish 4-H teens participated in the 94th annual 4-H University held in June on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge. Over 1500 4-H members from across Louisiana spent several days in Baton Rouge participating in state level competition or receiving intensive training in selected subject areas, such as Exploring the World of Sports, Forensics, and Dramatic Arts. Jefferson Parish 4-H Members Visit the Capitol [Image: People standing infront of flag.] Three Jefferson Parish 4-H members visited the Louisiana State Capitol in Baton Rouge in early June for “4-H Day at the Capitol”. They joined hundreds of 4-H members, 4-H Volunteers, and parents for the event. As a special bonus, participants celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the 4-H Youth Development Program in Louisiana.
