Learn to Grow Your Own Vegetables!

Free Workshop

March 24, 2009 6:30 p.m.

Denham Springs/Walker Library

8101 Florida Blvd.

Denham Springs, LA 70726

Learn the basics on how to start your own vegetable garden from Kenneth Sharpe, County Agent, Livingston Parish, Livingston Master Gardeners and the Family Nutrition Program.

With food prices rising, growing vegetables in the garden may help take some of the bite out of those costs. The workshop is just in time to prepare for the vegetable growing season. Now is the time to choose the garden spot or containers, prepare the soil and decide what to plant.

Workshop topics include:

    · Selecting the best location

    · Starting from the soil

    · Proper fertilization

    · Mulching

    · Warm weather crops

    · Watering techniques

    · Common vegetable diseases

    · When to harvest

Register today! Call LSU AgCenter Extension Office at (225)686-3020.
