Madison Parish celebrates 100 years of 4-H
| [Image: Balloon Release] | | [Image: halloffame] | | [Image: Centennial Reception] | The Madison 4-H Centennial Celebration was held May 21st and featured a fish fry fundraiser and a reception to celebrate 100 years of Louisiana 4-H. The event offered plenty of food and fun, door prizes, a balloon release and a cake decorating contest with 4-H themed cakes. During the reception 4-H Hall of Fame members were honored and a giant proclamation was signed commemorating the occasion.
4-H Hall of Fame inductees, Ann Keene and Bill "Mr. Q" Querrey, were honored with gift of a professional photograph package for themselves and their families. Both will be featured in a specially designed kiosk at the new 4-H Museum when it opens in December.
Ann Keene was recognized for being a 4-H volunteer/parent/grandparent with over 31 years of service. Parish level involvement: leadership with organized clubs, livestock projects, 4-H Advisory Leadership Council, Master Horseman Program and 4-H Foundation Board. Ann has served on the state level as LA 4-H Foundation Board Past Chairman/Trustee, LA 4-H volunteer Association Member, Co-Chair of the LA 4-H Master Volunteer Initiative Task Force. She is the recipient of the Louisiana 4-H Alumni Award, 4-H Attorney General's Livestock Leader Award and was named State Fair of LA Volunteer Leader of the Year.
Bill Querry was recognized for being a 4-H volunteer and supporter with over 40 years of service. Parish level involvement: leadership with the livestock program, served on 4-H Advisory Committee, served at Livestock Support Chairman, livestock show committee/chairman, conducted livestock and other project workshops and assisted at Achievement Days. As the past President of the parish Farm Bureau and member of LA Angus Association, "Mr. Q" has supported youth through field days and district and regional livestock shows.
