LSU AgCenter Extension Volunteer Corps (EVC)

The LSU AgCenter has employed a multitude of dedicated and talented people through the years who have a countless array of skills and abilities. This expertise includes skills in youth development, production agriculture, working with families and communities, managing people and offices, providing clerical support, bookkeeping and much more. Through retirements in years past, much knowledge and skills have been lost, and our ability to fill vacancies has been limited. In order to fill the gap, the LSU AgCenter has established the Extension Volunteer Corps (EVC).

The EVC will allow us to draw upon a wealth of experience and expertise by engaging LSU AgCenter retirees (both research and extension) and other qualified retirees from state land-grant universities as volunteers to assist us in continuing to meet the needs of our clients. We hope you may be just the person to do that!

What’s in it for you?

Since this effort is totally volunteer on your part, there are many benefits for you:

  • Set your schedule & choose the priority area to work based on program needs
  • Renew old friendships and create new ones

  • Minimal reporting requirements
  • Reimbursement for approved travel
  • Access to LSU AgCenter resources including office space, clerical assistance & educational supplies
  • he satisfaction of knowing you are still making a valuable contribution!

What will you do?

  • Volunteer to perform tasks based on program needs that match your training and experience.
  • Coordinate tasks conducted on behalf of the LSU AgCenter with the unit head responsible for your direct supervision.
  • Provide minimal monthly reports of LSU AgCenter-related activities to your immediate supervisor so your efforts can be credited to LCES.
