Food Service Technicians at the Head Start Center received nutrition training during their back to school meeting.

  • Juanice Moses, Food Nutrition Educator, presented “Smart Choices.” Smart Choices is a community education program that can improve family lives. It involves a series of lesson materials for youth and adults that focus on the importance of making smart food choices, eating in moderation and exercising for good health.

  • Gwen Taylor, FCS Extension Agent, focused on preventing foodborne illness. Time-temperature abuse, cross contamination, and poor personal hygiene are the common factors that have resulted in foodborne illness. Food service technicians engaged in glow germ, a hand washing activity that stresses the need for proper handwashing.

The LSU AgCenter provides research based information and programming to the community. For more information contact the LSU AgCenter Cooperative Extension Office at (318) 357-2224.
