Natchitoches Parish was created by the Act of April 10, 1805 that divided Orleans, Iberville, Rapides and Natchitoches.  The city of Natchitoches is the home of the world famous Christmas Festival held every year in December and boasts being Louisiana’s oldest permanent settlement.  Cotton crops, pecan orchards, cattle, corn, soybean crops, rice, crawfish and grain sorghum are raised throughout the parish.
