Welcome Back to 4-H!!!

Do you want to join 4-H? 4-H is a club for boys and girls ages 9 to 19. We will meet at your school once a month. By joining, you can participate in workshops, contests and 4-H Camp. To join, complete your enrollment card and turn it in to your 4-H leader along with your dues.

Name the Newsletter Contest

The monthly 4-H Newsletter needs a new name for the 2009-10 school year. Turn in your ideas for a newsletter name to your 4-H leader by October 23. The winner will receive $20. Enter as many names as you want, but don’t forget to put your name and school on your entries.

Agriculture Photography Contest

Entries for the 2010 Agriculture Photography Contest are due in the 4-H Office no later than December 18, 2009. Winning photographs will be displayed during Ag Expo in West Monroe the month of January. Please see the Agriculture Photography Rules for more details.

4-H Night with the LSU Tigers

The LSU Athletic Department is providing 4-H members a great opportunity to participate in the LSU Homecoming football game at the reduced price of $25 per ticket. The game will be November 14 against Louisiana Tech at 7 p.m. in Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge. LSU is allocating 2,000 tickets to 4-H on a first come, first served basis. Ouachita 4-H will order the tickets for you. If you are interested in getting tickets, call the 4-H Office at 323-2251 for details.

4-H Pet Show

When: October 8, 2009
Where: ULM Pavilion, Highway 80, Monroe
What: Your favorite pet!!!!!!

4-H Clubhouse Web site

This is a great place for you to learn new things and have fun. There are many exciting activities and games. Try it out and tell your friends about it, too. Remember that this is a Web site made especially for you.

Ark-La-Miss Fair

4-H members may enter crafts, baking or other items they have made in the Ark-La-Miss Fair. Categories include agricultural crops, forestry, insect collections, photography, arts and crafts, clothing, food preservation, baking and candy. Items may be entered at the Civic Center complex on September 26 or 27. For more information, ask for a fair catalog from the 4-H Office. The fair awards prize money to winners in each category.

Join Junior Leader Club

If you are 13 or older, you may join the Ouachita Parish 4-H Junior Leader Club. Junior leaders are active with service-learning projects, assist with 4-H activities, serve as camp counselors and have lots of fun! We have a lot knew ideas and changes that will come about this year with Junior Leader Club. Agents are really excited and hope you will come join us at the first meeting on Tuesday, September 15 , 2009, at 5:30 p.m.

Join Food, Fitness and Fashion Board

Are you into fitness, fashion, and nutrition? Then this is the club for YOU! If you are a 4-H member and between the age of 9 to 19, then you can join. This club will meet after school monthly and will be focusing on food, fitness and fashion. The first meeting will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at 5:30 p.m. at the 4-H Office.
