On October 10, 2009, the Pointe Coupee Parish 4-H Poultry and Ground Beef Cookery Contest was held at the Cottonport Bank Community Center. The contest consisted of divisions such as: Chicken, Processed Poultry, Other Poultry, Low Calorie, One Dish Meal and Quick and Easy. Pointe Coupee 4-H’ers entered 25 dishes to be judged on taste, creativity, recipe format and presentation. Junior Leader members Maddy Barbay, Racheal Gaude, Mattie Bollich and Tae Guerin assisted with registration, judge’s requests and awards. We would like to thank all of our Junior Leaders, parent volunteers and especially our judges who helped to make this such a successful event. Congratulations to all of those who participated.

Poultry Cookery Results:
Chicken – 1st Place: Jolie Thibodeaux, 2nd Place: Sarah Bollich, 3rd Place: Mattie Bollich, 4th Place: Cade Dickinson, 5th Place: Lanie Ardoir, Participation: Devyn Pourciau, Hannah Kreutzer, Laura Scronce, Keely Kreutzer and Karlie Akin.
Processed Poultry – 1st Place: Karlie Akin, 2nd Place: Hailey Thibodeaux.
Other Poultry Meats – 1st Place: Jolie Thibodeaux.
The Overall Best of Show winner from the Poultry Cookery was Jolie Thibodeaux.
Ground Beef Cookery Results:
One Dish – 1st Place: Mattie Bollich, 2nd Place: Jolie Thibodeaux, 3rd Place: Andrew Gaude, 4th Place: Racheal Gaude, 5th Place: Jacqualyn LaCombe.
Low Calorie – 1st Place: Hailey Thibodeaux, 2nd Place: Karlie Akin, 3rd Place: Maddy Barbay.
Quick & Easy – 1st Place: Hailey Thibodeaux, 2nd Place: Ryann Beard, 3rd Place: Maddie Landry, 4th Place: Karlie Akin.
The Overall Best of Show winner from the Ground Beef Cookery was Hailey Thibodeaux.
All of the first-place winners will represent Pointe Coupee Parish at the District Cookery in the spring of 2010.
