2009 4-H Summer Camp

Theme: Camp Grant Walker – “It’ll Grow On You!”

We will spend a week in the great outdoors learning all kinds of great things about nature, family and friends.

Camp Date for Rapides 4-H: July 20-24, 2009

Where: 4-H Camp Grant Walker, Pollock, La. (about 15 miles north of the Pineville Wal-Mart)

Who: Fourth- fifth and sixth-graders between the ages of 9 & 12 who attended 4-H Achievement Day in April

Costs: $120 in required fees (for lodging, meals and transportation) plus any optional fees for T-shirts, camp store purchases and pictures

(A deposit will be required of every camper to reserve your place, and it is due in early May; this deposit is NOT REFUNDABLE. The balance of fees owed, if any, will be due in June. Scholarships are available for 4-H’ers who receive free/reduced lunches.)

4-H camp is a week-long adventure where campers spend 4 nights and 4½ days away from home in a cabin with other kids, teen counselors and adult chaperones. Campers will be able to select from “tracks” (educational, hands-on classes such as nutrition, hunter safety, drama, etc.). In addition, campers participate in daily recreational activities like softball, basketball, kickball, jump rope, swimming and volleyball. Other choices include handicraft, visiting with and making friends, shopping for items at the camp store, cabin time, fun and games and archery.

Join the fun! Qualify for a camp application by attending 4-H Achievement Day. (See information on Achievement Day elsewhere on our Web site.)
