Rapides Parish Fair Queen Contest Information

The Rapides Parish Fair Queen Contest will be held October 3, 2009, at Riverfront Center in Alexandria.  If you are interested in participating in this contest, please read the information provided below.

WHO MAY COMPETE – Any female resident of Rapides Parish whose parents are also residents of the parish and who is between the ages of 16 and 21. A contestant must be 16 on or before December 31, 2009, and shall not have reached her 21st birthday before December 31, 2009. A copy of birth certificate MUST be included with entry form. She must be single, must never have been married or divorced and must remain single during year of reign. An official entry form must be submitted by each contestant prior to September 25, 2009.

JUDGING – Contestants entered in the Rapides Fair Association Queen Contest will be judged on interview and stage appearance. (This includes poise, personality, beauty and intelligence.)

ACTIVITIES – Contestants will be expected to attend registration, private interview with panel of judges, stage rehearsal and the pageant. All of these will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at the Alexandria Riverfront Center, 707 Main Street, Alexandria, La.

AWARDS – The Queen will receive a gift, a bouquet of roses, and a $500 scholarship to the learning institution of her choice, to be awarded at time of registration. LSU-A will award a $300 scholarship, if the queen enrolls at LSU-A and meets certain requirements.

DUTIES OF RAPIDES FAIR ASSOCIATION QUEEN – The queen will represent the Rapides Fair Association at the parish fair and other events as requested by the association. The queen will reign until her successor is crowned. The queen will participate in association activities as requested by the organization. The queen possibly will represent the Rapides Fair Association at the Louisiana Fairs and Festivals convention at the expense of the Rapides Fair Association.

RULES and REGULATIONS – Each contestant must file an official entry form with the Queen Committee before September 25, 2009. Each contestant must register and attend the interview session on Saturday, October 3, 2009, at 1:30 p.m., in street dress, such as a business suit or dress. Each contestant must attend the stage rehearsal and pageant on Saturday night, October 3, 2009, in formal gown.

ENTRY BLANKS – This year the number of contestants must be limited to 25. All entry forms must be returned before September 25, 2009. ABSOLUTELY NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER SEPTEMBER 25, 2009.
