Camp Grant Walker Archery shoot-off [Image: Michael Arnold]
On Saturday, August 8, 2009, Red River Parish 4-H member Michael Arnold attended the Camp Grant Walker Archery Shoot-off in Pollock, La. During the week of Summer Camp that Red River Parish 4-H members attend in July, Michael scored in the Top 5 of the week, winning fourth place in the archery division. By doing so, he earned a chance to compete in the Camp Grant Walker Archery Shoot-off. With 29 participants in the shoot-off, Michael placed eighth in that competition.

Velma Moseley’s sixth-grade students (100 students) at Red River Junior High were active participants in the Youth Wetlands Week program.
2009 Day of Service [Image: day 1]
The 2009 Day of Service was a commuity project with the town of Coushatta and other community groups to clean the town. 4-H'ers from Red River Parish joined in the effort.

Red River Parish 4-H is proud to announce member Stonie Harris attended Citizenship Washington Focus July 12-18, 2009. The event was a leadership program for high school youth from across the country.

The fifth annual Camp Roughin’ It was held April 13-15, 2009, at Gum Springs National Park in Winnfield, La. Enjoying a memorable experience at Camp Roughin’ It were 15 Red River Parish 4-H members.

Fourteen of 16 students in DeSoto and Red River parishes who received the Discovering Tomorrow's Leaders awards, a program sponsored by Chesapeake Energy, are members of 4-H.

On Saturday, July 18, 2009, the grand opening of the 4-H Museum in Manursa, Louisiana, took place. Red River Parish agent Cindy Smith and volunteer Nancy Nettles attended the event to see the different features of the museum.
