Red River Parish 4-H’ers recently participated in the state 4-H U contests held on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, on June 17-22, 2008.  Four-H’ers from all over the state competed in various educational contests and attended educational programs. Red River Parish 4-H’ers brought home eight top awards. Receiving Blue Ribbons were: Morgan Garrett – ATV; Megan Johnson and Maranda Robinson - Consumer Food Judging; Kelli Graham, Stonie Harris, and D. J. Rambin - Meat Identification; and Brandon Adcock, Clay Hines, and Jacob Nolen - Outdoor Skills. Also participating was Alicia Walsworth in Fashion Review – Casual.

    D. J. Rambin was elected to serve her second year as Representative from Northwest Louisiana on the 4-H Executive Board. Alicia Walsworth will serve on the State 4-H Fashion Board.

Congratulations to all of the contestants. You are a terrific group and represented Red River Parish well! We would also like to say a special thanks to Nancy Nettles. Nancy has long been a strong supporter of 4-H and the programs provided for the youth of our parish. As one 4-H’er puts it “It wouldn’t be 4-H U without Miss Nancy.”

We look forward to next year and thank our 4-H’ers for a wonderful trip to Baton Rouge!
