On Saturday, August 8, 2009, Red River Parish 4-H member Michael Arnold attended the Camp Grant Walker Archery Shoot-off in Pollock, La. During the week of Summer Camp that Red River Parish 4-H members attend in July, Michael scored in the Top 5 of the week, winning fourth place in the archery division. By doing so, he earned a chance to compete in the Camp Grant Walker Archery Shoot-off. With 29 participants in the shoot-off, Michael placed eighth in that competition.
Archery is the art, practice or skill of propelling arrows with the use of a bow. Archery has historically been used for hunting and combat; in modern times, however, its main use is that of a recreational activity. One who practices in archery is typically known as an "archer" or "bowman," and one who is fond of or an expert at archery can be referred to as a "toxophilite." As a member of the Red River Shooting Sports team, Michael has shown to have great skills in archery. Great job Michael!
