St. Helena 4-H'ers Attend Camp

[Image: 2009 Camp attendees]This summer St. Helena youngsters attended a weeklong stay at Camp Grant Walker  in Pollock, La., where they stayed from June 8 through June 12, 2009.

The fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders had a fun-filled time. Campers were able to choose from different educational tracks. Each track taught the campers something exciting. Some campers learned to swim while others made rockets or learned how to cook pizza outside. Campers could also learn about archery and ATV safety.

Every night concluded with a dance or a dip in the pool, and every morning started early to make beds and clean the bunk houses.

4-H camp was a great way for the St. Helena youngsters who attended to meet others from surrounding parishes and to gain some independence.

Pictured on the right are some happy campers from St. Helena Parish.
