The sale of satsumas, sweet potatoes and oranges is an annual event benefitting the 4-H program in St. Helena Parish. Orders for fresh Louisiana satsumas and sweet potatoes are being taken now at the LSU AgCenter office in Greensburg, La. Read on for more information.
Satsumas are a refreshing snack and make a gorgeous table arrangement for the holidays. They can also be used for gift baskets. Sweet potato pie has long been a favorite holiday food.
Satsumas are $25 for a 20 pound box. Sweet potatoes will be available at $15 for a 40 pound box, and $10 for a 20 pound box. Orders are due to the LSU AgCenter office by noon on Friday, Nov. 5, 2010. Pickup date is Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, after 10 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the St. Helena 4-H program.
Orders for navel oranges are also being taken, but the cost for a 20 pound box is undetermined at this time. Oranges will arrive in December before the holidays.
