The sale of satsumas, oranges and sweet potatoes is an annual event which benefits the 4-H program in St. Helena Parish. Read on for more information. Orders for fresh Louisiana satsumas and sweet potatoes are being taken now at the LSU AgCenter office in Greensburg.
Satsumas are a refreshing snack and make a gorgeous table arrangement for the holidays. They can also be used for gift baskets. And sweet potato pie has long been a favorite holiday food.
Satsumas are $20 for a 20-pound box. Sweet potatoes will be available at $15 for a 40-pound box, and $10 for a 20-pound box. Orders are due to the LSU AgCenter office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009. Pickup date is Tuesday, November 17, 2009, after 10 a.m. All proceeds will benefit St. Helena 4-H.
Orders for navel oranges are also being taken. Oranges will arrive in December before the holidays. The cost is $20 for a ½ bushel (20-pound box).
