This field day, open to all youth in the Florida Parishes area, offers demonstrations and topics such as shotgun and rifle shooting, archery, fishing sports and wildlife wonders. The wildlife wonders section will cover wild/feral hogs, traps used, dressing procedures and diseases associated with wild hogs. "Live" hogs will be on display.
A Cloverbuds program is planned for children pre-K through third grade.
All shotguns, rifles, bows, targets and ammo will be provided by the Outdoor Skills program, but you are welcome to bring your own. All guns must be in a case.
The field day will be held at the Florida Parishes Skeet and Gun Club. To get there, drive about two miles east of Amite, take Hwy. 1054 north, go .6 mile, then turn left onto VFW Road.
This free program begins at 9:00 a.m. and will end with lunch, which will be provided. Registration is not required.
