Food Festival 2008

Youthful chefs practiced their food preparation and presentation skills for the annual St. Landry Parish 4-H Food Festival Day held at St. Ignatius Saturday, December 13, 2008. The 4-H members prepared special dishes at home to be judged in the different food exhibit contests. Contestants also participated in a Consumer Foods Judging Contest.

While exhibits were being judged, participants were able to participate in a 4-H Food and Nutrition Workshop presented by Alison Muller, 4-H Agent. Judges for this activity included: Grace Miller, Cheryl Stelly, Mary Ann Dugal, Joanne Costanza, Sam Hanchett, Blake Hackler, Darlene Hackler, Vince Deshotel, Stacey Deshotel, Theresa Bizette and Kelly Bizette.

Sugar Cookery (Baked Items) – Courtney Stelly, Beau Chene

Sugar Cookery (Non-Baked Items) – Danine Horn, Leonville Elementary

Seafood Cookery (Crab) – Kayla Laborde, Krotz Springs Elementary

Seafood Cookery (Crawfish) – Adam Guidry, Beau Chene

Seafood Cookery (Shrimp) – Sadie Costanza, Member at Large

Rice Cookery (Side Dish) – Stephanie Wyble, Leonville Elementary

Rice Cookery (Main Dish) – Austin Barnes, Arnaudville Elementary

Ground Beef Cookery (One Dish) – Sadie Costanza, Member at Large

Ground Beef Cookery (Quick & Easy) – Randi Stelly, Central Middle

Consumer Foods Judging Contest

Grades 4-6: Randi Stelly, Central Middle

Grades 7-8: Sadie Costanza, Member at Large

Grades 9-12: James Prather, Member at Large
