With “Camp Grant Walker…. It Will Grow on You” as the theme, 64 St. Martin Parish elementary 4-H members attended 4-H summer Camp June 29-July 3, 2009, at the LSU AgCenter's Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center in Pollock, Louisiana. They were joined by other 4-H members from East Baton Rouge, Bossier, St. Mary, Richland, St. James and Concordia parishes.

Each club member selected an educational track to experience each morning from the topics of Outdoor Adventures-including hunter safety certification, RECHARGE – Food and Fitness, Dramatic Arts-Let’s Put on a Show, Explore Louisiana: Wetlands, Wildlife, & You, and Get Ready, Get SET… Science, Engineering, and Technology. Each afternoon they rotated as groups participating in the following activities: sports, swimming, arts and crafts, cycling/parachute, archery, indoor games, line dancing, canoeing and a nature hike. Evening activities consisted of a movie, dance, swimming or arts and crafts projects.
Seven high s[Image: Photo]chool members of the parish’s 4-H Junior Leader Club served as counselors and group leaders for the camp. They were Robert Burkhardt, Megan Conques, Jordan Guidry, Linda Nguyen, Adele Richard, Hannah Thibodeaux and Trey Thibodeaux. Serving as chaperones were parents Dina Theriot and Bentley Bijeaux and St. Martin Parish Extension agents Alfred Guidry, Laura Brumbaugh and Hope Guidry.
