St. Mary Shooting Sports

The Shooting Sports program for St. Mary Parish is under way for the 2009-2010 school year.  The disciplines taught will be Archery, BB gun/Air Rifle and Shotgun. 

Project Skills:
When you have completed this project, you will be able to:
  1. Discuss the history of the firearm or bow and its functions. 
  2. Identify types of firearms or bows.
  3. Identify parts of a specific firearm or bow.
  4. Tell the difference between different types of actons on certain firearms and locate the safety.
  5. Explain the ammunition used in the firearm or the parts of an arrow.
  6. Practice the basic rules of firearm, hunting or archery safety.
  7. Understand the range setup, range safety and range commands.
  8. Master the fundamentals of shooting.
Sign up:

To sign up for the program, download and print the attached application blank, then mail it to:  LSU AgCenter 4-H Shooting Sports Program, St. Mary Parish Office, 500 Main Street, Room 314, Franklin, LA  70538. You can also deliver it to the 4-H Office on the Third Floor, Courthouse Building, Franklin, LA.

Due to limited availability, only those who complete and turn in the application will be considered for the program.  Deadline to sign up for the program is October 23, 2009.

Volunteers:  Please download, complete and return the attached volunteer form.  Even if you are unfamiliar with any or all of these sports, your help will be appreciated. This program is successful only with volunteers like you!
