St. Mary Parish 4-H Achievement Day was held March 21, 2009, at Centerville High School. A total of 88 elementary and 52 senior 4-H'ers participated in contests ranging from bicycle safety to plant identification. Complete elementary and senior results are included in the attached files. In addition, here are some highlights:
Scholarship Awards
Kristen Comeaux, a senior from Patterson Senior High School, was this year's Clay Terry Award winner. In addition, Kristen was the state winner for the McCrory Family Scholarship, the parish winner for the Louisiana 4-H Foundation Scholarship, one of 10 state winners for the LSU Baton Rouge Scholarship, and a first alternate for the Gerry Lane Enterprises Scholarship.

2009 Pop-top Contest.
In 2009, 789 4-H members and volunteers collected a total of 544.1 lbs. of pop-tops, which will be donated to McDonald's to help support the operations of Ronald McDonald house.This fundraiser benefits seriously ill children by helping provide a place for them and their families to stay while they are out of town for medical treatment.The top 5 schools collecting pop-tops were:
1st Place - Baldwin Elementary. 8 members collected 29 lbs = 3.625 lbs per member.
2nd Place - Berwick Elementary. 83 members collected 155 lbs = 1.867 lbs per member.
3rd Place - Bayou Vista Elementary. 58 members collected 94.5 lbs = 1.629 lbs. per member.
4th Place - Wyandotte Elementary. 45 members collected 68 lbs. = 1.511 lbs. per member.
5th Place - Stephensville Elementary. 14 members collected 14.6 lbs = 1.432 lbs. per member.
