Members of the St. Mary Parish 4-H Junior Leadership Club have been very busy the last two months. The club recently adopted five members of the U.S. Armed forces serving overseas. To show support for the sacrifices they are making for our country, the Jr. Leaders are donating snack foods, personal care items, magazines, newspapers, letter writing supplies, and small toys for care packages that will be sent to the troops.
They have also been very busy assisting 4-H Agent Jenni Johnson with parish 4-H Activities. In October, club members spent numerous hours volunteering in the 4-H Office. They made officer folders for all 4-H club Officers and they helped put together 4-H Leader Guide Books for 4-H Leaders. On October 18 they conducted officer classes for 4-H Officer Training held at Patterson High School.
On October 27th, 29 members of the club conducted three activity booths at Zoo to Boo in Morgan City. They will donate half of their profits to the Morgan City Barnyard Zoo.
Currently the Junior Leaders are hard at work assisting the 4-H office in the pulling of 4-H project books for 4-H members and are getting ready for the Coastal Creatures Exhibits that they will be conducting at 4-H Fun Day on Saturday, November 3 at LaGrange Elementary School.
The 4-H Junior Leadership Club is opened to all 7th-12th grade 4-H’ers, who are interested in getting more involved in community activities. The deadline for joining is November 6. Club dues are $10.00 and are due by 6 p.m. on November 6.
