Tensas Parish is located in the northeastern part of Louisiana. Created in 1843, the parish’s name was derived from the Taensa Native American people. Agricultural crops are produced on 181,000 acres with the primary crops being cotton, corn, soybeans, grain sorghum and rice. Hardwood forests cover the remaining acres. Opportunities for outdoor activities include hunting, fishing and wildlife are provided at the Buckhorn Wildlife Management Area and the Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge. Read more...
