2008 4-H Achievement Day a Centennial Celebration
4-H members from throughout Terrebonne Parish gathered at Montegut Middle School on Saturday, April 26, 2008 to participate in the 2008 4-H Centennial Achievement Day. 4-H members had the opportunity to participate in public speaking, environmental display, personal development and demonstration contests and attend environmental craft workshops and games hosted by parish wide school 4-H clubs. The St. Matthew’s 4-H Robotics Club also displayed their award winning robot. In the afternoon, 4-H members took part in the 4-H Centennial Hat Parade and 4-H Fashion Board members modeled the latest designs in high fashion. 4-H talent was displayed during the 4-H Song contest where members demonstrated their singing and dancing abilities. The day ended with the 4-H Awards Ceremony. The following school clubs and individuals were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments in the 4-H program this year:

4-H Night with the PBR
The Chris Shivers Gerry Lane Invitational thunders back to Baton Rouge on
August 15-16, 2008. Chris Shivers, the two time World Champion from Jonesville, LA is offering the 4-H program an opportunity to participate in this year’s event and support the Individual Parish 4-H Foundation while doing so.
For every ticket purchased in our parish to the Saturday, August 16 (8:00 p.m.) performance, the Chris Shivers Gerry Lane Invitational will donate $5.00 to our Parish 4-H Foundation! Tickets can be purchased by 4-H members, their families, volunteers, and friends.

2008 4-H/LSU Football Game
The 4-H/LSU football game will be September 13, 2008 against North Texas State University in Tiger Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. LSU has reserved 2,000 tickets for 4-H at $25.00 each. Director Coreil and the 4-H Foundation will sponsor a tailgate party at Parker Coliseum prior to the game. If you are interested in getting tickets please return the form below with your check or money order to Terrebonne Parish 4-H Office, LSU Ticket Order, P. O. Box 627, Houma, LA 70361 before May 30, 2008.

2008 4-H Centennial Raffle
Raffle to Benefit 4-H Camp Grant Walker
The Louisiana 4-H Foundation is conducting a $10,000 4-H Centennial Raffle to benefit the Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center. Tickets are $100, and only 1,000 tickets will be sold with the drawing being held on September 13, 2008, as part of the 4-H Tailgate Party that will culminate with the LSU-North Texas football game in Tiger Stadium. To purchase tickets, call the Louisiana 4-H Foundation office at (225) 578-2972 or contact your local 4-H agent.
Every parish in the state will benefit from this fundraiser. The funds generated through the raffle will be used to support environmental education initiatives at Grant Walker 4-H Educational Center. In addition, a portion of the funds will provide 4-H camp scholarships for low-income and at-risk youth.
4-H is an educational youth program of the LSU AgCenter. More than 5,000 Louisiana youth participated in 4-H Summer Camp last year.
