Grand Champion Winners for the 2009 Terrebonne Parish Seafood Cookery
Thanks to all 4-H members for the huge success of the Seafood Cookery. The Seafood Cookery was held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 at SLECA. There were 169 dishes registered within six seafood categories.
All 4-H'ers received ribbons for participating in the cookery. A grand champion winner was chosen in each category.
- Shrimp Main Dish: Bonnie Gilmore from Mulberry
- Shrimp Appetizer or Salad: Neil Monnier from H.L. Bourgeois
- Fish and Other Seafood: Jena Pellegrin from Lacache Middle
- Oyster: Jeanne Morgan Gernon from South Terrebonne High
- Crawfish: Abigail Landry from St. Francis
- Crab: Cindy Edwards from Terrebonne High
This year, Terrebonne 4-H has introduced a new program called Clover Buds. This club reaches K-3 grade students and introduces them to some 4-H activities on noncompetitive basis. We had several Clover Bud's participate in the Seafood Cookery!
We'd like to thank everyone for coming out on such a rainy morning and participating in this event for our youth. The judges had a hard time picking top winners with so many great-tasting dishes!
