Kids in the Kitchen

4-H'ers in St. Martin and Vermilion parishes have been participating in the Kids in the Kitchen program. These 4-H'ers are presenting cooking demonstrations that originate from winning dishes from 4-H competitions. They are doing this to promote Louisiana agricultural commodities. The award-winning recipes would be made available along with research-based educational information on the winning dishes. The idea of this project came about because the Louisiana 4-H Youth Development program of the LSU AgCenter addresses a nationwide initiative of promoting healthy living through proper nutrition and fitness. Four parishes are involved (Iberia, Lafayette, St. Martin and Vermilion), and it reaches 5,000 youth and households.
