2007 Judging Day [Image: Judging Day] [Image: Judging Day] [Image: Judging Day] Well over 500 youth from across Vernon Parish participated in the annual 4-H Judging Day held out at the West Louisiana Forestry Festival Fairgrounds.  Teams of 4 from each club participated in one of 5 events:  Livestock Judging, Horse Judging, Meat Identification, Poultry Judging and Dairy Judging. Each contestant participates individually and as part of a team.  With the use of web sites, project books, local experts, and more youth study and practice to prepare for their events.  Prior to the contest, the judges for each event review completing scorecards and tips as what to look for when grading or judging classes.  Conducting the individual events were: Livestock Judging - Mr. Danny Coombs, Professor and Research Coordinator for the Rosepine and Dean Lee Research Stations with the LSU AgCenter; Dairy Judging - Mr. Chuck Griffin, Dairy Specialist with the LSU AgCenter in DeSoto, Bossier, Caddo and Sabine Parishes; Meat Identification – Mr. Rodney Johnson, County Agent (4-H) with the LSU AgCenter in Rapides and Grant Parishes and Ms. Kristy Neel, County Agent (4-H) in Sabine Parish; Horse Judging – Mrs. Judy Weisgerber, LSU AgCenter Master Horseman; Poultry Judging – Mr. Cleve Weisgerber, County Agent with the LSU AgCenter in Vernon Parish.
