Vernon Parish 4-H Members Fare Well at State 4-H Horse Show [Image: State 4-H Horse Show] [Image: State Horse Show] [Image: State Horse Show] Several Vernon Parish 4-H members recently competed at the State Horse Showat the Ike Hamilton Arena in Monroe. They participated in Performance, Speed, Halter and Presentation events. The 4-H members included: from Anacoco Elementary 4-H – Austin Williams; Anacoco Junior 4-H – Wade Morrison; Anacoco Senior 4-H – Chase Haymon, Tryon Williams, Kristen Morrison, and Whitney Haymon; Evans Junior 4-H – Lillie Minion; Hornbeck Elementary 4-H – Peyton Arthur; and Leesville Senior 4-H – Rae Addison. Kristen Morrison was named a state 2inner in Senior Pole Bending which earned her the opportunity to represent Vernon Parish and Louisiana at the Southern Regional event in Memphis. Kristen, along with her younger brother Wade and Josh Burns of Rapides Parish, also placed fifth in Team Penning. The Demonstration Team of Chase Haymon and Tryon Williams were also named state winners as they demonstrated “The Basics of Roping Calves and Steers,” which also earned them the opportunity to compete at Southern Regionals. Others placing in presentation contests included: Junior Public Speaking – Wade Morrison, fourth place; Senior Public Speaking – Rae Addison – fourth place; Junior Individual Demonstration – Austin Williams – fifth place; Junior Team Halter Judging – Lillie Minion, Peyton Arthur, Austin Williams and Wade Morrison – fifth place and fourth place high team junior judging; High Individual Junior – Wade Morrison – third place; Senior Team Halter Judging – Rae Addison, Whitney Haymon, Chase Haymon and Tryon Williams – fifth place, fourth place High Team Performance Judging and fifth place High Team Senior Judging; Senior Quiz Bowl Team – Chase Haymon, Whitney Haymon and Tryon Williams – fourth place.
