The Florida Parishes Outdoor Skills Field day held September 26, 2009, had a great turnout from our Clover Buds!

The 35 Clover Buds who attended were first introduced to the Bayou Buddies, a group of animals that live in Bayou Gumbo that help teach about nutrition, health, character and science. After learning about the different characters, the Clover Buds headed outside for some fun activities.

First, the Clover Buds made Bayou Crunch, a healthy snack that the Bayou Buddies love. After snack time, the Clover Buds planted grass seeds in cups to show how easy it is to help the environment! The Clover Buds also were to go back home and plant their grass in their own yards once the seeds sprouted.

Next, the Clover Buds split into three groups that rotated through different stations. One station was fish prints. The kids took rubber fish, covered them with paint and pressed a piece of paper onto them to make a print. Another station was Sandy Feet. At this station the Clover Buds used plaster animal tracks to explore the different shapes and sizes of wildlife. The last station was a BB Gun station. At this station the Clover Buds learned how to be safe and responsible with firearms.

The day ended with delicious hotdogs and chips. We hope these Clover Buds will come back next time to learn more about the Bayou Buddies and have some more fun!
