Valerie Vincent, associate extension agent in Washington Parish, was honored recently at the National Extension Association for Family and Consumer Sciences 2009 annual session. The theme of this annual session was “Celebrating Our Heritage, Embracing Our Future.” It was an appropriate theme as the association celebrates its diamond anniversary -- 75 years of continued professional development and service furthering the field of family and consumer sciences.
Vincent was a member of the team that received first place in the national and first place in the southern regional NEAFCS Extension Housing Outreach Award at the conference held on September 18, 2009, in Birmingham, Ala.The NEAFCS Extension Housing Outreach Award recognizes NEAFCS members for outstanding housing educational programs conducted for families and/or communities. This recognition honors outstanding Extension System programming which enhances housing outreach to communities and families with special needs. The Montana State University Extension Housing Program established and presented the award.
This award continues to highlight that the LSU AgCenter is committed to meeting the needs of individuals, families and communities.
