Contest Day news [Image: centennial exhibits]During 2008 Louisiana 4-H celebrated its centennial, and the West Feliciana 4-H program ended 2008 with a big celebration. The 4-H 100th Birthday Party and Contest Day included exhibits of old photos, a talent showcase and contests. 4-H members, families and 4-H alumni were invited to join the party. Fifteen birthday cakes were entered in the two age groups of the cake decorating contest. Emma Hopkins (4th – 6th grade) and Ellen Hopkins (7th – 12th grade) won first place in those events. In the Seafood Cookery Contest, Claire Leming won first place in the Shrimp Division and Overall Best Seafood Dish. Other division winners were Kelsey Fontenot (Crab) and Reed Sturgeon (Crawfish). Brandon Oliveaux entered the Overall Best Beef Dish and was first place winner in the One Dish Meal division. Jordan Semplonius won the Quick and Easy Main Dish division. In the photography contest, Michael Delatte and Kelsey Fontenot tied for first place in the Animals Division. Timothy Devers was winner in the division for photos of people, and Jolee Beauchamp had the first place photo of other subjects. Bicycle Rodeo participants were Hunter Fudge, Caroline Fudge, Shaleen Hunt, Jolee Beauchamp, Michael Delatte and Alex Badon. Talent performers were Bailey Vandergrift, Kristin Perritt, Katie Thompson and the group of Catherine McKinney, Caroline Fudge and Hunter Fudge.
