WELCOME TO 4-H!
Whether you are a new member in West Feliciana 4-H or a returning member, we are glad to have you! 4-H is for you, and the more you take part, the more you will enjoy it. We have lots of activities during the year, and your monthly newsletter is how we will tell you about them.

JUMP INTO 4-H!
Dues for 4-H are $5.00 for the year. To attend the next meeting in your school, cards and dues must be turned in before the day of the meeting.

At your next 4-H meetings, members will get project books and elect officers (or executive committee members at WFMS), so it is important to pay dues by then.

CONGRATULATIONS!
Lorna Klein is the 2009 state winner in the 4-H Junior Beef Grazing Project. Lorna was selected for feeding 4 heifers that gained more weight than heifers raised by other beef grazing project 4-H’ers across the state. The heifers were fed from Dec. 2008 to May 2009. Lorna was recognized August 29 at an awards program and luncheon where she was presented a check for $550.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Fall Family Fishing Day – Do your parents ever take you fishing? Well, here’s a chance for you to take them fishing. For the past several years, 4-H has offered a spring Take a Parent Fishing Day. Because it’s been so popular, we’re adding a fall fishing day this year Saturday, October 17. The same rules apply: You must bring one adult on your team, and prizes will be awarded for the most fish caught. New additions this year include a casting competition and t-shirt printing. We’re keeping the same low price of FREE. More details and registration information will be in the October newsletter.

State Fair – A 4-H’er can send exhibits in arts and crafts, clothing, forestry, photography and home accessories. Cash premiums and ribbons will be awarded. Exhibits must be turned in to the parish office by October 15. Rules and class descriptions are available at the 4-H office.

4-H Night with the LSU Tigers, November 14, LSU vs. La Tech – Tickets for the LSU Homecoming game can be purchased by 4-H members, parents and volunteers for the reduced price of $25. A large tailgate party is planned for this special game.

TheWeb site to order tickets will be open at 8 a.m. Monday, September 21. To receive the Web site and parish promo code, 4-H members who have joined 4-H for this school year (paid dues and turned in enrollment cards) should contact the parish 4-H office at 635-3614 or drop by the office to get an information sheet.
