Fortune cookies were invented by the Chinese in 1909, not in Peking or Shanghai, but in San Francisco. The real secret of a fortune cookie is the message on a slip of paper carefully hidden inside the cookie. The message is usually in the form of a proverb or a prediction for the future. The message cannot be revealed until the cookie is broken open.

The theme for 4-H this year is “4-H is Worth a Fortune!” because through involvement in 4-H you will “break open” the secret to a life full of fortune. 4-H gives you new friends, opportunities, knowledge, and the joy of serving others. J O I N 4-H Today! Here is what you do:

• Fill out a 4-H enrollment card.
• Pay club dues – turn in the card and money to your school club leader on the date they set.

All club leaders must turn in the 4-H enrollment cards and club dues to the 4-H office by OCTOBER 23. NO EXCEPTIONS! Make check payable to: Winn 4-H Foundation.
