Les Amis de Jardin (Barbara Quirk, E-mail)
Volunteers gather every Wednesday morning to work in any of the many Burden gardens; a real hands-on learning lab.
Special Events (Marilyn Root, E-mail)
Wine and Roses, an elegant dinner in October, is the major special event for BHS. As with any function, details from menus to flowers need to be covered by volunteers.
Light refreshments are also served at some of our weekend educational programs. Volunteers are needed to help prepare and serve visitors.
`Publicity (Judy Weaver, E-mail)
The publicity committee promotes BHS functions. Volunteers with publicity experience are needed.
Development (Penny Miller, E-mail)
- Tour guides docents for Trees and Trails:
Volunteers are needed for pre-scheduled group tours this fall and spring 2010. Training will be provided.
- Representatives and Speakers:
Getting the word out about BHS is important, and we need volunteers who can visit garden clubs, social clubs and civic organizations to tell others about what’s happening at Burden Center the "best kept secret" in Baton Rouge.
- Clerical:
A variety of opportunities exist for helping with mailings, data entry, inventory and general office support. This is a good way to hear what’s going on at BHS while stuffing envelopes.
- Other:
If none of the above interest you but you’d still like to become involved – we’ll find a place that fits your interest.
