[Image: I;;ustration of garden]The plants we know as gingers are monocots and most are classified in the Zingiberaceae family, which has more than 1000 species. The lore surrounding the culinary, aromatic and medicinal uses of ginger is extensive and spans hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Gingers also have commercial importance as cut flower, landscape and potted plants. The purpose of the ginger garden at Burden Center is to evaluate and showcase those gingers that have promising landscape attributes.
