The LSU AgCenter Coastal Area Research Station is located near Port Sulphur in lower Plaquemines Parish. This aerial photo was taken the day after Hurricane Katrina struck southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi and Alabama coasts.

Research Emphasis at the Coastal Area Research Station Since Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina destroyed most of the facilities of the station and killed many of the citrus trees. The station is now being rebuilt and will carry out new research projects as well as limited citrus research.
