Weed Control Research in Agronomic Crops of the Lower Red River Valley

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To evaluate weed control and crop response of experimental preemergence and postemergence herbicides in comparison with standard treatments for high pH soils of the lower Red River valley.

  2. To develop weed control programs using newly developed herbicides for use in soybean, cotton, corn, grain sorghum and wheat.

  3. To develop weed management systems for use in reduced-tillage crop production, to include evaluation of reduced rates, adjuvants and herbicide combinations.

  4. To develop weed management programs using genetically transformed varieties of corn, cotton and soybean for tolerance to specific herbicides and utility in existing weed management programs.
