WELCOME TO MACON RIDGE RESEARCH STATION
212A Macon Ridge Road · Winnsboro, LA · 71295
Phone: (318) 435-2157 · Fax: (318) 435-2133

In the 1950s, farmers in northeast Louisiana saw a need for research conducted under the sandy soil conditions of an area just west of the Mississippi River called the Macon Ridge. Thus, the LSU AgCenter Macon Ridge Research Station, which occupies 815 acres near Winnsboro, was established. Research at this station focuses on row crop production and raising cattle. The goal is an integrated pest management strategy for insects, diseases and weeds to help improve the profitability of agriculture, which is the largest industry in the area.
