Welcome to the Southeast Research Station

[Image: Photo of research station sign]

The Southeast Research Station has been devoted to serving the people of Louisiana for more than 50 years. It is committed to the advancement of dairy farming and forage production, while promoting good land stewardship throughout Louisiana.

The Station is in the heart of the dairy region in Louisiana (St. Helena, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes), where more than 90 percent of Louisiana dairy cows are kept. A team of specialists generates research and extension information in a range of disciplines, particularly forage quality, dairy nutrition, wastewater treatment and nutrient management.

The free-stall barn has the capacity to house up to 200 lactating dairy cows and another 200 head of young stock are raised on the station.

The Station’s Forage Quality Laboratory is fully equipped to provide basic feed analyses for farmers in Louisiana and Mississippi.

The Southeast Research Station welcomes visitors year-round. Come visit us!
