West Monroe plant sale set for April 5

News Release Distributed 03/06/14

WEST MONROE, La. – The Northeast Louisiana Master Gardeners will hold their sixth annual plant sale at the West Monroe Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 5.

Commonly known as Spring Fest 2014, the event will begin with a preview sale from 3-6 p.m. on April 4.

LSU AgCenter horticulturist Steven Hotard said the plant sale will feature vegetables and herbs, flowering vines, flowering trees, tropical and houseplants, hanging baskets and many others.

“This will be an opportunity to find Louisiana Super Plants and other varieties not usually found locally,” Hotard said.

Butterfly garden tours will also be held throughout the day, he said.

“Local Master Gardeners will be available to help you select the best plants for your yard and garden,” Hotard said. “They also will be available to answer questions, provide gardening tips and help you load your car.”

Market at 7th Square, the West Monroe Farmers Market, is located at 1700 N. Seventh St.

The plant sale is sponsored by the LSU AgCenter and the Northeast Louisiana Master Gardeners.
