Armyworm Population Is Heavy This Spring

Description:
(Radio News 05/07/07) Outbreaks of armyworms are occurring around the state, according to LSU AgCenter entomologist Dr. Dale Pollet. Many Louisiana sugarcane farmers have reported seeing armyworms in their fields. Pollet says the worms won’t cause serious damage to sugarcane and that growers shouldn’t spray their fields for these pests. But armyworms can cause problems in other areas.
